Enjoying Nami Island

Hey everyone, Shakira is back with adventurers stories. Here in South Korea we're having our Chuseok break. Which is also known as Korean Thanksgiving. So my family decided to have a trip to Nami Island. From my place to Nami Island takes about 2 hours with a little traffic jam. As we arrive there my parents and I were very hungry so we ate lunch at Nami-Ok. At that restaurant, there are several menu, but all of them sells something stir-fry or chicken ribs. My family chose chicken ribs because he chicken is halal and we were curious about the taste. After we stir and cook the food, it look really delicious but spicy too. In my opinion it was not bad, after all I was hungry so I had a big appetite. There are other restaurants, rather than Nami-Ok.

We need to use a ferry before going to Nami Island. But before that, we have to get tickets first. There are 2 different tickets for foreigners and local Korean people. It's 8,000₩ for adults foreigners, and 4,000₩ for children foreigners. But for local Korean people, it's 10,000₩ for adults, and 5,000₩ for children. When you arrive at Nami Island, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery, breezy air, and most of all wild animals! You can see a lot of squirrels, but seldom rabbits. Anyways, along your trip inside Nami Island you can either walk, ride a train, ride a car, or ride a bike

There are lots of activities for kids and also adults. We can create our own pottery, or even coloring mugs. You can also enjoy the cafés there. For children interest they can play at the playground. There is also a hotel at Nami Island if you would like to have a stay. From all of the above, I think Nami Island is place where it's an unforgettable memory.

This is the ferry that takes to Nami Island.

This is the halal dak galbi that I ate.

Kidzania trip in Jakarta

Hey folks how are you doing? I'm having my summer break and it's pretty awesome! I want to tell my adventure to Kidzania in Jakarta. Are you ready to read my adventure? Well, off we go!

If you've heard or been to Kidzania, you might understand that we will experience jobs and get salaries. My first stop was working in a hotel as a housekeeper. It was fun because I was accompanied  by my cousin, named Rama. She had the permission to have fun with me in Kidzania. After being a housekeeper me and my cousin made a small towel, and able to bring it home. Afterward, we went to a counseling meeting, where the judges work.

After a few of jobs, we felt hungry and went to work in a nugget factory. We got 2 nuggets for free and it was delicious. Next, me and my cousin thought about being a pharmacists. We experience making medicine. when we were kind of confused which job we want to try next, then my cousin suggested to be a firefighter. first we rode fire fighter truck to the location. I saw pretend fire and we sprayed burned building with water. So, my last job was making a book. We got our book made by ourselves in the end. Overall we had lots of fun and lots of fake money too from our our jobs.

We were so exhausted after so many activities we did, mom suggested us to have a break and got lunch together. I had yummy combo fried chicken, salad and, rice. For Rama, she chose beef teriyaki with rice. She said it was delicious but I think the portion is to big for her, she barely finished her lunch. All of us got "Teh Kotak" as our beverage, a rare one at where I stay, so I enjoyed very much.

After we fill up our lovely tummy we decided to check out souvenirs shop at Kidzania. My happiness never ending, mom bought me a cute pinky t-shirt and she bought us kidzania's pens too. So I could share with Rama. We end our day at Kidzania after we bought some stuff at the souvenirs shop.

Well fyi, Kidzania has breaks. So, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Kidzania open for morning session, and then they will have a break for 1 hour. They will open again for afternoon session at 3:00 pm and close at 8:00, for further information about their operation hours etc etc you can check it out at their website I will mentioned below.

P.S: We need to get a bank card for our salary.

Sincerely,
Shakira Kurniawan

Ilsan Aqua Planet

Hello guys! Are you ready for a fantastic adventure? In South Korea, there's an awesome aquarium and mini zoo unlike other aquarium and mini zoo you can find in South Korea. This awesome place called Ilsan Aqua Planet.

There are many spectacular sights you can explore here. They provide a food court which serves deliciously mouth watering food. They sell hot dogs, Korean food and Gong Cha, you know that place right? It's place where you can pamper yourselves to a tealicious, yeah I'm fans of tea. In that place our family as usual enjoyed our bibimbap. Yeah you're right, it was a Korean food that we can eat while we are having outing and mom didn't provide homey (home made) food for us. Yeah I think once in a while mom needs to take her off from kitchen...LOL..

Inside the building you will explore different kind of sea creatures. The first exciting part is, after exploring these different animals, there's a big tank which is filled with sharks, stingray, and varied of fish from different species, they provide attractions too. You can use the stairs to go to the next attraction. I found this next attraction is fun!

Next what it's more fascinating for me is a touch pool. Actually is kind of shallow pool that you can touch and feel star fish, and there's this fish which eats your dead skin. How awesome. I tried for a few minutes, it's kind of tickles but I enjoyed so much.

By the way, there's a gift shop too and a horse drawn. They decorate the cart like a Cinderella cart wannabe. If you're curious about Ilsan's Aqua Planet, I highly recommend you to discover this aquarium and indoor zoo.

My friend's birthday party

Hello blog readers! Are you ready to read my new and exciting adventure? Well, let's go! On Saturday the 21st, I went to my friend's birthday party. I was late because I went outing with my parents. But, I still had a wonderful time there. I met many of my friends. We played tag at the playground. I never get tagged and I didn't know why. After playing outside we went up to my friend's apartment and played bingo. Luckily, I got 2 prizes after playing bingo. Yay!👏 All of us became hungry and ate dinner. I ate Indian food. It was superbly delicious. But, I didn't know the name of the food. After eating the superbly delicious Indian dish, my friend's parents asked me if I would like to try Indian dessert. I tried it and it was awesomely delicious. It was filled with fruits and a sweet taste. Yum! Afterwards, we went up to the attic and played there. (My friend has an attic in his house) We also played pictionary. Overall, my day was a blast!

Mr. Toilet Museum

Hello everyone! I've got a new adventure to tell you. I would be posting about Exhibition, but for sure I'll  tell you my fascinating adventures.

A few days ago, me and my classmates went to the toilet museum. Even though people think it's gross, I personally think some of them are disgusting and some of them are useful information. We might think toilets aren't that important. But, actually it is! What if we need to use the bathroom but we can't. Our lives would become desperate. Some people might think everyone has proper sanitation. Eventually, not really! We should be blessed that we have proper sanitation. Some people in Africa, Ghana, India, China, Indonesia do not have proper sanitation. So, this organization helps build proper bathroom for these unfortunate people.

Toilets used years ago in Korea.

People cannot sit to throw their waste.

These are how animal waste looks like.

Alpensia Ski Resort

Hi folks Shakira is here, are you ready to be a stalker at my  adventures? Here we go!

Along this week, I've been traveling to Alpensia in Pyeongchang. It's part of Gangwondo province. This is a very huge ski resort. There are 2 types of lodging at this ski resort. One is the suites and the other is a hotel. A suites is like a condotel, kinda a condo type but functions as a hotel. They provide a kitchen, a heater look like camp fire, bathroom, bedroom, dining room, living room and a single bedroom with queen size double bed, hmmm very cozy along with thick blanket. Perfect place to snuggle up. If you are type of non junkfood person then you can cook there. They provide an induction stove, a huge refrigerator, kitchen equipment, microwave, sink even the sponge and the liquid dishes soap, it's perfect!

But for the hotel type they don't provide a kitchen. So, they need to eat at the restaurants. But you don't have to worry, they have lots of restaurant at a vary choices of menu. They have western and Korean style food. I've tried 2 restaurants and they were delicious.

If you stay overnight at the Alpensia, you'll get a coupon. One for skiing and the other is for swimming. You get 35% off for the water park and 30% off for the skiing equipment rental and sled. The water park is called Ocean 700. When it's winter the indoor swimming pool is opened, but if you like to swim otdoor you can do it. They provide you outdoor swimming pool too even in winter. If you rather ski or sled, you need to know how to skiing. If you don't, you need a coach to teach you skiing as a beginner.

The price for 1:1 teaching is 300,000₩ for 4 hours, quite pricing right...yeeaahh. In the other hand there are 2 types of sleds. One is the tube sleigh and the other is normal sleigh sled. They are inexpensive. If your just visiting Alpensia you pay 10,000₩, but if you're stay overnight in Alpensia, you'll get discount and pay 8,000₩ only.

There is an interesting place too at Alpensia. it's a craft shop. You can create some interesting craft such as mug decoration, necklace or key ring beads, wooden puzzles, drawing in t-shirt etc.  I've made a mug and a necklace. There is also a 4D cinema and a mirror maze. Very fascinating right? When you're traveling to Korea, be sure to explore Alpensia.

Don't forget to wear your warm clothes, proper socks and boots, hat, hand gloves and keep smile..

All best from South Korea.

Korean War Memorial Museum in Seoul

Dear blog readers,

Today I went on a field trip to a Korean War Memorial Museum with my class. It took quite a while to get there. I didn't like sitting in the bus for a long time, it makes me bus sick. But when we arrived at the museum I had a feeling that I'm going to have so much fun. And I did!

I was in group with 5 people including me and the chaperon. While I was exploring the museum I saw many lives didn't survive in the war. But they struggle for independence and peace. America was on South Korea's side and Russia was on North Korea's side. As I began to watch movies about Korean War and Cold War I felt lots of sorrowfulness, because some children lost their parents. I just imagine if I experienced the Korean War, I don't know I would survive or not. I don't like war, it just makes me afraid. All those guns and bombs, they make me terrified. Why should there be still ongoing war in this world?   I want peace, a peaceful on earth. When there is peace in this world? I would like all of us live in harmony!

Here some photos I took while I was in the Korean War Museum, hope you like it fellows..

All the best from South Korea..

Ibis Styles

Dear blog readers,

How are you? It's been a while that I haven't wrote anything in my blog. Yesterday, I came back to South Korea safe and sound. Well, my journey was quite long and pretty tiring. But, God gave us smooth flight and safety along my journey. On Saturday, I transited Jakarta for about 8-9 hours, so I stayed in a hotel named Ibis Styles. We can take a shuttle bus from the airport. It's not that far from the airport, it takes 5 minutes with the bus. But from the airport to the hotel takes quite a while, because the hotel is in the opposite side, so we need to make a big U turn to reach that hotel. But from the hotel to the airport takes only 5 minutes without jam. You must be wise in choosing the transportation.

They provide comfortable sofas that we could enjoy. There are also 2 free computers with free internet that we could use. They served breakfast, lunch and dinner too. The style of the hotel is very unique. Inside the room they provide a giant comfortable bed, a relaxing sofa, a LED tv, a bathroom and a hanger to hook your coats or clothes. But surely, they provide a huge swimming pool too. So what are you waiting for? If you're visiting or transiting Jakarta, be sure to try Ibis Styles.
